BMOP kicks off its 23rd sesason

BMOP opens the 2018-2019 season with a bang! Featuring percussionist <strong>Colin Currie</strong> performing <em><strong>Time Release</strong></em> by <strong>Steven Mackey</strong> and composer and harpist <strong>Hannah Lash</strong> performing her <strong>Concerto No. 2 for Harp</strong>. <strong>Harold Meltzer's <em>Vision Machine</em></strong> and Mackey's <em><strong>Tonic</strong></em> round out the program.

BMOP finishes the 2017-2018 season with three world premieres: Pixelandia by Yu-Hui Chang; percussionist Beibei Wang premieres The Legend of Cowherd and Weaver Girl by Anthony Paul De Ritis, and A Thousand Mountains, A Million Streams by Lei Liang closes the concert. Huang Ruo's piano concerto, Unscrolled, rounds out a program inspired by East Asian culture.

Odyssey Opera reunites with BMOP to bring Norman Dello Joio's made-for-TV opera to the stage for the first time. The Trial at Rouen features soprano Heather Buck as Joan of Arc during her time of imprisonment. Dello Joio's The Triumph of Saint Joan Symphony, drawn from his first Joan of Arc-inspired opera, opens the program.
