Play It Again at Carnegie Hall

BMOP continues its extended 25th Anniversary celebrations with a trip to Carnegie Hall. Featuring three works originally commissioned, premiered, and recorded by BMOP, "Play It Again" provides the capstone to the first 25 years of BMOP's mission.

The Lord of Cries

BMOP presents the East Coast premiere of composer John Corigliano and librettist Mark Adamo's striking new opera, The Lord of Cries. Weaving Bram Stoker's Dracula with Euripides's tragedy The Bacchae, Corigliano and Adamo lead the listener through a fever dream of ecstasy and ruin set in Victorian England. Featuring GRAMMY® Award-winning countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo as the supernatural Dionysus-cum-Dracula, Lord of Cries reimagines timeless themes for contemporary audiences.

As Told By: X, The Life and Times of Malcolm X

In October, we announced As Told By: History, Race, and Justice on the Opera Stage, the most extensive and ambitious presentation of opera by Black composers to ever take place in the US. Starting with Anthony Davis’ X: The Life and Times of Malcolm X, As Told By is a series of five operas that depict vital figures of Black liberation and thought across 250 years of history.

Pulling Out All the Stops

BMOP returns to the concert stage in style, with a special concert event to kick off celebrations of a quarter-century of BMOP. Pulling Out All the Stops, BMOP's first live concert since 2020, showcases the power and glory of the Symphony Hall organ as it is seldom presented: as a vital element of contemporary expression. World-renowned organ soloist Paul Jacobs joins the BMOP orchestra for an evening of 20th-century organ masterpieces and iconic organ solos reimagined for orchestra.
