BMOP's strongest attribute is the artistic distinction of the orchestra. BMOP's players, the overwhelming majority of whom reside in the greater Boston area, are considered to be at the top of their field. Many of them specialize in the performance of new music, and all are dedicated to realizing BMOP's mission. The Boston Globe says that BMOP demonstrates "how classy our community of freelance players is," and The New York Times claims, "Mr. Rose and his team filled the music with rich, decisive ensemble colors and magnificent solos. These musicians were rapturous - superb instrumentalists at work and play."
The Boston Modern Orchestra Project, affiliate orchestra for new music at New England Conservatory,
will join NEC in sponsoring the 2010–2011 concerto competition for works written after 1960.
The competition will be held on May 17, 2010 in room 124 in the Jordan Hall building.
Applicant letters must be postmarked no later than May 10, 2010.
